Bio

I am a certified riding instructor by the Swedish Equestrian Federation, level 3 since -87 and dressage trainer level C since -97. I started riding at a riding school in Stockholm at the age of 9. Horses quickly became a big part of my life. When I was 14 I persuaded my mother that we had to buy one of the school horses that couldn’t handle the changes of riders, he had turned aggressive. To help to afford to keep him I worked at the riding school every weekend. After high school I began working in another riding school and started my education to become a riding instructor at -83.

Dressage has always been my passion and I’ve competed to Prix St George level. My interest in teaching started at the riding school but also by being trained by very pedagogical trainers. A big influence in the early 90’s was Kyra Kyrklunds clinics , films and her book. She made training simple. I have always carried an interest in how to make the communication with both pupils and horses as clear and easy to understand as possible. The words  ” why ” and ”how” has always accompanied me.

I heard about learning theory for the first time at a lecture with Dr Andrew McLean in Sweden round 2010 and I understood  that it was a must know for fair and clear horse training but a missing link for me. I then attended several clinics with Andrew over a few years both as a rider and from the ground which led me to start the studies of ES Diploma. The Diploma of Equitation Science has given me so much knowledge and so many tools that I now wish to pass forward to do my part for the welfare of the horses we keep, handle and train. A huge thank you to the whole team of ESI!!

My hope for the future is that one day all instructors in Swedish riding schools will have the knowledge of learning theory and the 10 Principles for teaching the next generation of riders.

I’m available for weekly lessons in the area of Stockholm and can be booked for lectures, clinics and short courses anywhere in Sweden.

Current lectures available are:

-The learning of horses

-The 10 training principles

-The self carriage of horse and rider

-The challenge of keeping riding school horses/ponnies on light aids and in self carriage
