Jody Hartstone is a Grand Prix dressage rider, coach, and international lecturer specialising in Equitation Science. Based in New Zealand, she teaches and presents globally, with experience across the UK, Ireland, Canada, Europe, and Asia.

As a rider, Jody has won multiple New Zealand national titles at Grand Prix level and has claimed Prix St Georges International Derby victories in New Zealand, Australia, and South Africa. Her competitive background underpins a strong practical understanding of performance training at the highest levels of the sport.

Jody was one of the first coaches worldwide to graduate from the Equitation Science Associate Diploma and is known for her clear, evidence-based approach to horse training and rider education. Through her educational platform, The Equine Catalyst, she delivers clinics, online courses, lectures, and mentorship programs that bridge learning theory, biomechanics, and ethical training practice.

Her particular areas of interest include foundation training, the retraining of problem horses, rider skill development, and the application of Equitation Science principles to dressage and performance horses. Jody is passionate about improving horse welfare, enhancing rider understanding, and helping equestrians train more effectively through science-led, horse-centred methods.
