Bio
Magali Van der Heyden is a Belgian Equitation Science International (ESI) Graduate and an equitation science–based horse trainer and behaviour consultant. She combines horsemanship and sport in her work, with a strong focus on horse welfare and clear communication between horse and rider. Her approach is based on learning theory, ethology, and biomechanics, which she applies in a practical and accessible way.
She holds a diploma from Haras de la Cense (in France and Montana), where she was trained in applied ethology and modern horsemanship. This education forms a solid practical basis that complements her scientific background and supports her emphasis on clarity, consistency, and respect in training.
Magali works with both young and experienced horses, as well as riders of different levels. She supports combinations dealing with challenges such as fear and anxiety in both horse and rider, trailer loading issues, and difficulties with relaxation and focus. Her work aims to create calm, confident horses by improving understanding and emotional balance on both sides.
She also specialises in the education of young horses, providing them with a solid foundation based on mutual trust, safety, and clear, step-by-step training. This approach allows young horses to develop confidence and understanding, preparing them for a sustainable future both in everyday training and in sport.
Based in Belgium, Magali offers lessons, coaching, and education to help riders apply equitation science principles in practice. She also works internationally, teaching and supporting riders and horses through coaching and clinics.
