Dr Portland Jones is a horse trainer, coach and writer with a particular interest in welfare. She has been working with Dr Andrew McLean for many years and is passionate about the application of evidence based training methods. She has written widely for the equestrian press and has also published two books – a novel and Horses Hate Surprise Parties: Equitation Science for young riders. Portland lectures in equine behaviour at Murdoch University and runs a training  and coaching facility in Western Australia’s Swan Valley. Portland is also interested in the application of evidence based training methods to other species and is on the board of Human Elephant Learning Programs (H-ELP).
