Bio
I have been around horses since I was a child, and it has been the main passion of my life since. I decided to study Animal Science, with the primary focus on ethology and with all the courses on horses I could find. I also had horses of my own, for almost 20 years.
After university, I started working with horses, at Oslo University Hospital. Here we have a small herd of six horses, where patients with addiction or psychiatric illness can participate in Horse Facilitated Psychotherapy. My job is taking care of the horses, with main focus on their welfare. We believe the welfare of the horses are essential for them to be safe and well-functioning therapy horses, and taking Diploma of Equitation Science has been really helpful in both increasing welfare in our own herd, but also improved the way we train and handle our horses, and made us see clearer what is important for improving horse welfare in general.
