Bio
Susan Turner-Davis was ‘literally’ born in the saddle.
As soon as she was tall enough she was taken to the race track by her father who would put her on one of the families racehorses and it was led onto the track and off it would go around the track until the family thought there had been a training effect and then they would run out onto the track and wave the horse down to stop it. Speed was then imprinted into Susan.
As a Pony club member, she represented her Club at State level in dressage and eventing and then became a Pony Club Coach. Coaching for Pony Club took Susan to King Island where she met Andrew and Johnna McLean. Susan then continued coaching in pony club’s and adult riding clubs throughout Tasmania and Western Australia.
After a short but successful time as a racehorse trainer, she left the racing industry disillusioned with the handling and training of racehorses which led her to search for training principals which could be applied to all horse training regardless of discipiline.
In Western Australia, Susan became a qualified Equestrian Australian coach and started her own freelance coaching business and breeding Trakehner horses.
Susan takes a holistic approach to her coaching and training, developing training programs that are within the skill sets of both the riders and their horses she works with.
Susan’s training and coaching is based on Equitation Science principals so the training is ethical and sustainable.
This increases the safety for riders and helps to reduce the wastage in the horse industry.
Hand in glove with her horse training and coaching riders, Susan has a successful pet dog training and behavioural modification business where her passion is working with families who have a behavioural problem living with their dog.
Susan has a very successful small riding school and freelance coaching and training business in Manton, NSW which is near Canberra.
Susan coaches all levels and ages of riders and provides behavioural modification for horses along with educating the horse’s handlers and or riders.
