Bio

Sussan grew up on a beef cattle property in South-West Queensland where horses were integral to daily operations. She was also involved in pony club, competed in showing, dressage, show jumping and interschool throughout her formative years. Her passion for horses and all things equestrian, led her to establish her Roma based coaching, training and agistment centre where she now focuses on dressage, show jumping and foundation training with a particular interest in injury and behavioural rehabilitation of horses.

Sussan is a rider position specialist coach, with a holistic approach to coaching, training and competition based around Equitation Science principles, with a particular focus on developing a training system that is founded on rider safety and horse welfare using sustainable and ethical training practices.  Sussan also incorporates body work for horse and rider using the EMMETT Technique as part of her holistic approach.

Sussan is committed to sharing a training system that develops the confidence and understanding of both the horse and rider, promoting safe horse/human interactions and assisting riders in resolving horse behavioural issues using ethical techniques.  This holistic approach utilised by Sussan, also incorporates working closely with leading equine professionals, including farriers, veterinarians, muscle therapists, nutritionists, equine dentists and other coaches and trainers to ensure the best well-being outcomes are achieved for the horse.

“Completing the ESDip has provided me with the skills necessary to implement and teach safe, ethical and sustainable training methods.  This knowledge has proved extremely beneficial in addressing behavioural issues in the ridden horse.  I particularly enjoy retraining retired race horses, and helping others do the same, by addressing behavioural issues and assisting them (the horse) in finding a purposeful and content life after racing.  I am so grateful to have discovered Equitation Science which has significantly enhanced my skills as a coach and trainer, and I am certain my own horses are very appreciative too!”  Sussan Evans

While Sussan is based in Roma, QLD she travels widely conducting clinics to meet demands.
